Planning Your Outdoor Website
We want to make sure your new outdoor website is one you and your clients can be proud of. That is why, We've highlighted key aspects of our design process to help you better prepare in planning your new website. Please review the following and give us a call so we can clarify any doubts you may have.
Semi-Custom Templates vs Custom Templates
A template dictates the position, arrangement and alignment of elements on a web page. Elements such as the navigation menu, the company's logo, copyright info, etc. For instance, the template is what makes the navigation menu display below the logo, or above it, or next to it.
The template is basically the structure of the site and is there to help maintain a uniform look throughout the website. While text and pictures may differ from page to page on a site, the template generally does not.
The difference between semi-custom templates and custom templates is simple:
A custom template has no structural limitations, that is to say, you can instruct us to design the template any way you like. If you can imagine it, we can build it.
Semi-Custom templates have a the following limitations listed by category:
Navigation Menus
- The navigation menu may be displayed below the logo or on a side column next to the content area (body) of the website. - The navigation menu may not exceed the width of the web page or the content area of the site.
Logo Area
- The header or logo area may be displayed above the menu or above the content area (body) of the site. The header (logo image) must be within 1,000 pixels wide and 400 pixels tall.
Text Styling
- Text styles and general text sizes cannot change from page to page. - The font size and font color must remain consistent with the template.
General Limitations
- The logo/header image must remain the same throughout the site. - The navigation menu (page links) must remain the same throughout the site. |
Revisions
In order to more effectively design your website, Hunter Connect utilizes what is known as a 'revision process', allowing you to request changes to your site's content or layout as we're building it. A revision, is the process of modifying a website after it has been presented to you, either in its entirety or just a few of its pages. A revision begins after we present you with new website progress (a preview or rough draft of your site) and you respond with a list of changes and suggestions. Once we receive your changes, preferably by email, we review these and provide you with a new estimated preview date. This new preview will allow you to once again review the website and instruct us to correct anything we may have missed in the original revision.
Revision changes must be sent before the revision begins. That is, you must review the web pages and any content that has been presented to you thus far and list ALL modifications as they are to be made. It is assumed that after a revision, content and pages which were revised are considered approved, unless listed modifications were not performed properly or were accidentally overlooked by our designer.
In order to maximize our turn-around time and commitment to project deadlines, we have assigned a number of maximum revisions to each Design Package. This limit, represents the number of times our designer can revise the same page(s) after they've been previewed by you. Additional revisions can be performed at our standard design rate of $35/hr.
Pages
Each Design Package comes with a maximum number of pages that can be built for your website project. All pages to be designed must be listed upon purchase, or by the time the designer first begins working on the project. It is not acceptable to request more pages be added to the website after the design is complete or well under way.
To easily keep track of the number of pages on the project website, we consider all menu links either at the top, left, or right of the template to be separate web pages. Menu links which link to the same page or to a third party website are also counted as separate pages.
The length of a page is also limited to 900 pixels in height. Any single page exceeding this measurement will be regarded as multiple pages. In such case, we'll determine the number of 'pages' within this page by dividing the total length of the page (in Pixels) by 900 Pixels. For instance, if a page measures roughly 2,700 pixels it will be counted as 3 pages instead of a single page. Click Here to see what a 900-Pixel area looks like. Also, note that the length of pixels may vary slightly from one monitor to another by virtue of its resolution.
If additional pages are needed, they can be designed at our standard hourly rate of $35/hr. It is strongly recommended that our customers carefully plan the exact number of pages that will be needed for their new website before purchasing a Design Package. It is not possible to upgrade from one design package to another once purchased.
